Pumpkin Treats

Holidays are so special! As a family, you only get so many together, yes the kids will come back again and someday with their children, but it will never be the same as when they were all small, so I try to make them special and memorable, especially since my husband and I don’t have a large family to share it all with. One of the ways I do that is with treats, here is another easy but fun and delicious treat for the Fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving seasons!

Rice Krispie Pumpkins

You will need 5 cups of your favorite brand of Rice Krispie cereal, a package of marshmallows, 2 Tablespoons of butter or coconut oil, red and yellow food coloring and tootsie rolls. Anyone whom has made rice krispie treats should be familiar with these.

After your mixture is nice and orange grab a piece of wax paper and coat an area with butter or coconut oil. Spoon a bit of mixture onto the buttered or oiled area and begin to form a ball.

Tootsie Rolls

To add the stems, I cut a quarter off of the tootsie rolls, because otherwise I thought they looked too long, then I pushed on them a bit to form them into a stem shape and gently pushed the bigger part into the top of each pumpkin.

Here I have it paired with another treat we made, Fall Bark. The pumpkins taste no different than other cereal bars however, they add a nice festive look to the plate or dessert tray. My kids loved them and would bring a smile to any party for young and old! Enjoy!
